does the internal server have MX like this:

maildomain1.com    MX  10 Imail.server.com

>It tells me that the domain wasn't found.

who is "it"? antecedent unknown, comment rejected

Can we see some imail logs when you send mail to the internal server?

>As an example it is a forwarder for maildomain1.com and forwards

>maildomain1.com.  It says that maildomain1.com doesn't exist.

you should have in NT hosts file:

ip.ad.re.ss     imail.domain.com    ; default ip address for
                                     ; default/nonvirtual Imail domain

ip.ad.rs.s2     maildomain1.com     ;

You also should have ip.ad.rs.s2 in smtp security, "relay for addresses", ime.

That otta work.
