The "no fixup protocol smtp 25" applies to the Cisco PIX firewall. Perhaps
Cisco tech support can tell you if there is a different command or syntax
for the 1605 router you are using.

Subject: [IMail Forum] PLEASE HELP - I AM BEING SPAMMED!!!
I use IMAIL 6.05 (with all latest patches) on Win2000 (SP1).
I also have a Cisco 1605 router with IOS 11.3 and the Firewall feature set.
My domains all have their own IP's (on the one IMAIL machine) and all the
users in those domains are verified through an ODBC connection to an SQL
database.
I have for a long time tried to disable mail relay (using both "no mail
relay" and "mail relay for addresses"), and everytime I have problems.
If I have NO mail relay, then:
if I DONT have "my server requires authentication" checked, I get the
correct "not a gateway" error - thats fine.
but...
if I DO have "my server requires anthentication" checked, I get the error
"The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server. (Account:
[EMAIL PROTECTED], SMTP Server: mail.infocon.pl, Error Number:
0x800ccc0f)"
I read that maybe this is a firewall problem (according to article KB
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-20000707-DM02.htm) but when I try to
execute the command "no fixup protocol smtp 25" on the router via telnet, I
get errors.
If anyone has ideas, please please help, because this morning I had 33000
spam emails waiting in the spool directory. Because of the spam, all my
users (about 1000 of them) get their mails choked in the queue for hours
(sometimes they never even get to the destination).
As an intermediate solution I used a kill file to enter all the emails
addresses, IP
addresses and domains that I could identify as spammers, but this obviously
is a short term solution (very short term).
If there is anything elase I can do in IMAIL (I tried all combinations of
disabling AUTH VRFY and AUTH REPORTING but no luck), or with any other
product then I would be very much obliged.
please help,
Marcin
