Steve,
I had the same problem as you. IMail does not support 2 letter ID's.
There are ways you can create them (editing the registry, using the
adduser.exe command etc) but you will still have the same problem as you
have now. (can't change passwords etc.)
I contacted IPSwitch tech support and they sent me the following message :

IMail 6.05 does not support 2 character user IDs.
You can create a user ID and also create an alias with a 2 character ID and
point it to the normal ID.
In the mail client, put the reply to address, the alias.
User ID = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Alias = [EMAIL PROTECTED] and it points to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I now create three letter ID's and create two letter aliases.
