A couple things here:
First, your firewall is breaking RFCs by blocking the mail greeting. Not a big deal,
but just thought you should know.
The only time I have seen this happen before was with a different mail server (Unix)
that would disconnect immediately after accepting the message. The sending SMTP
didn't receive confirmation that the mail was delivered, so it would keep trying --
but, the Unix machine delivered the mail successfully.
Second problem -- I've been sitting here for about 2 minutes now waiting for a
response back from the "MAIL FROM:" command. Nothing yet.
I'm guessing that your firewall is FUBAR and is mucking around with SMTP. Your server
is responding reasonably quickly, so I doubt that it should be taking minutes to
respond to the MAIL FROM: unless some sort of lookup is being done. The firewall may
be doing DNS lookups, but using a poor or no DNS server.
Since you are hiding your mail server's identity, are you running a program on the
IMail server that gets the mail and passes it on to IMail?
