> Declude says they will have something as well.
We are working on something (not sure if it will be part of Declude or separate) that
will deal with dictionary attacks. It will answer port 25, passing information
to/from IMail on a separate port. This seems to be the only way to intercept the
dictionary attacks properly. Intercepting them where Declude processes the mail only
works when there are valid account names that have been successfully obtained, and all
Declude could do would be E-mail you to alert you, or possibly turn on a "nobody"
alias. But by intercepting the SMTP port, it can take action immediately. However,
we don't know yet how well something like this will work in real life (IE whether
there will be any noticeable performance issues), so it is possible that it may not
end up being an actual product. We will be looking for a few people to help beta test
it before long.
