>1. we would like to peer 2 or more Imail servers and use 1 external Database
>machine, did anyone try this?

If you mean one external account table being serviced by 2 or more
Imail servers, it can't be done because each Imail sever, even when
the database is external and used by several Imail servers, still
keeps an internal/registry list of domains and mail accounts. ie, an
account identity is defined in Imail server, not in the SQL
tables. Imail doesn't look up an account in the external database to
see if it exists, Imail knows that from its internal database.

So when a Imail operator runs several Imail servers to spread the,
each user must use only the specific Imail server where his account
is defined, with the Imail facilities. There are probably ways
around this but not within standard Imail.

>2. which SQL Database (MS SQL 7.0 or 2000) are most of the imail server
>users runing?

Just because 2000 is newer and I think more expensive, with few
advantages to Imail specifically, I would guess most are running pre-SQL2000.

>3. which ODBC dll should I use, the one delivered by ipswitch in version
>6.06 or do you know of a better one?

The one from Ipswitch is generally considered "state of art". I
don't remember seeing on this list whether it works with SQL2000.
