I'm assuming that you are talking about outgoing spam (relaying), not
incoming spam.
Spammers are trying to send e-mail through our SMTP, but not to our users,
so you are right, it is just a relay

This is what happens: Antispam relay works well on Webshield, but there is
one problem: I don't see any way I can make Webshield do SMTP AUTH.
Webshield only works with the range of allowed IP addresses and doesn't seem
to have smtp authentication option, or at least I couldn't find it.
This is ok as long as all my users are on LAN, but when they go home or on
the road and use dial-up, it creates serious problem. Therefore, I would
like to stop Webshield antispam relay and start filtering and rejecting
messages based on the analysis of their content. I am tired of catching IP's
of these jackasses and reporting them to their provider.
And, per our previous discissions, I would love to dump Webshield and
replace it with Declude products, antivirus and antispam. Unfortunately,
this Webshield was bought only two months ago and we are still bleeding from
financial wounds caused by this purchase. <grin>
