I'm pretty sure it's not looking for PTR.  tag, you can be the guinea 
pig.  :)))

AOL MX gateways will reject a msg if the @sender.domain does not 
resolve (ie, query for sender.domain A record).

So all you have to do, if the above is your problem, is add an A record to DNS

listsenderdomain  A   ip.ad.re.ss

and while you're at it, add an MX record:

listsenderdomain  MX   imailbox.domain.com
