Except that is not the IP of his system! DNS reports:
DreamWebWorks.com.
nameserver = NS.VDSHOST.NET.
nameserver = NS2.VDSHOST.NET.
100, mail.DreamWebWorks.com.
63.124.77.53
mail.DreamWebWorks.com.
63.124.77.53
The IP from the log show this when I connect to port 25:
220 www.vdshost.net ESMTP Sendmail 8.9.3/8.9.3; Mon, 23 Apr 2001
09:24:52 -0400
And unless Sendmail now has a similar monitor program, I don't see how this
IP would be reported unless that host were connecting to IMail for some
reason.
Hmmm... When I check DNS for the above name, I get another address:
www.vdshost.net.
216.205.43.41
And a PTR check for the .10 gets no response.
Right now the IMail host SMTP Relay is set for 'Anyone'. I was able to
connect and send myself a message. So any message that actually gets to the
server will be accepted. However delivery is not guaranteed (meaning that if
IMail cannot get some needed info, or connect to the remote, or if the
remote rejects, the message will eventually bounce).
I'd have to agree that IMail is not getting the email, it is going to some
other server, so your forward is not in effect!
