We are running a mail server that sends out a newsletter every nite. This
morning I was getting SMTP failure errors. There appeared to be over 100
smtp processes running. We killed most of the processes and rebooted the
server. Now mail just sits in the que and is very slow to go out. There
are over 5500 messages in the que and there is only 2 smtp processes running
and it does not seem to even try to send messages. We hit send all and
nothing happens.

We have checked the DNS - it is properly set up and pingable from the
server. We have checked the mail logs and it shows nothing. It does not
even appear like it is even trying to send.

We are running Imail 6.

Any ideas on why Imail does not start more SMTP processes ( it is set for a
maximum of 50)?
