Chuck,
By default there is a 30 process limit in IMail that can be changed by
modifying the registry (see KB, MaxQueProc, is the keyword). Use care as
setting it too high can use up the system resources. If you see 100 without
making the registry change, then you have a problem! Once the limit is
reached, IMail will still kick the Queue timer, but SMTP32 will see that and
not try to start more.
If you are getting Dr Watson errors for SMTP32, most likely cause is a group
Alias with more than 50 email addresses in it. Convert those to List
Servers.
BTW, you don't need to kill the processes, if you are going to reboot!
What happened after the reboot?
