I'll grant you it would be nice if an event fired.
Still hard to find fault with them for the basic functionality. No one else
has improved upon it, and outside a few broken versions of Opera, all the
browsers work essentially the same. Type=file has been around since the 3.0
HTML draft, which I think pre-dates MS first IE version by nearly a year(and
if it was in the first rev of IE, it was probably that way in mosaic).
