The .pst has their address book and calendar items in it as well as sent
items, deleted items, etc. Pretty much everything except their actual mail
folders. What you can do is close Outlook and rename the .pst file. When
you start Outlook it will prompt you to select a .pst file. Just choose a
folder (or leave it as is) and it will create a new outlook.pst. You can
then do your testing. Once you get everything working again, go to the file
menu and open the old .pst file. Copy the addresses etc. from the old one
to the new one and then close the old one and delete it if you want.

To fix the problem you probably just need to go into Tools/Accounts and
remove then recreate the IMAP account. You can also try going to Tools/IMAP
Folders and unsubscribing from the affected folder then resubscribing.

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMAP and Outlook and PST files

Okay, I'm a little confused. While I (and most of the IT staff) use
Netscape Messenger as our mail client, the far majority of our users use
Outlook as their email client. We use IMAP as our protocol and I've
noticed that some of our Outlook users still have PST files. I bring
this up because one of our users can't acces their email (fetching
headers problem) using Outlook. I've deleted their .UID file on the
server, but still the problem persists. So, as a test I used Netscape
Messenger to try and access their email and it worked fine. I was
looking for some sort of INBOX or MAIN type of file I could delete from
their hard drive but that's when I ran across the PST file.

Is it safe to delete the PST files?

Thanks,
Dale
