Hi all,
I am having this strange problem on our mail server, something which has been happening in the past, but on rare occasions. So, here it goes… Imail is continuously receiving these strange messages, I mean hundreds, with things in the e-mail address like:
08:07 18:56 SMTPD(017F002C) [195.158.64.67] RCPT TO: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] PRIVMSG #malta : ACTION is using Advanced mIRC Integration
08:07 18:57 SMTPD(01BB012E) [195.158.64.67] RCPT TO: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] PRIVMSG #genn :pruvajt imma ghalxejn>
Now I am noticing that these have all something to do with IRC. Some of the messages are coming from users on our allowed IPs, others are coming from users outside our allowed IP's addressed to our IP's. Hundreds of these messages are coming in, and I am suspecting that the senders are infected with something which causes all the messages in the IRC channel to be forwarded to the smtp settings set-up on their system?
Anyone ever encountered this problem? And most of all, is it something we can prevent or it is up to the user to clean up his system?
Thanks for any information.
Stefan
