The PTR record is the A record counterpart.  PTR resource record, is used to map an IP address to a host (computer or other network device) name in a DNS reverse zone (those in the In-addr.arpa DNS domain).   To set it up -I assume you are using DNS Manager under NT/2K-   add the address   3.12.17.208 in-addr.arpa  IN PTR  mail.jcws.net   that means you add the record using the query  <ip reverse domain name> IN PTR <host name> IP numbers are written in backward order and "in-addr.arpa." is appended to the end to create this pointer record.   You can see an example on how to add a PTR record using this link http://softtest83.ns.gatech.edu/csr/csr_dns.html   for even more info you can check MS white paper File Name: Dnswp.exe Location : ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-docs/papers/ Title : "DNS and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0"     I suggest you use www.dnsreport.com to get a report of your domain (DNS). (Many large ISPs will drop your connection if they cannot match your IMail hostname with a PTR record for your IP address.)
