By unplugging the hard drive, you changed the hardware configuration.
Then, when you booted with an "old" ERD, and reloaded the files, the
system became unusable. A ERD will only restore to the state that was
there when the ERD was made. If hardware is missing, it will not work
properly.

Is the system drive also on the SCSI adapter? If so, you need to adjust
the SCSI setup.

Just because you were only using the ID 0 drive for the spool, does not
mean that there were not other files on it.

OS Loader V2.10 does not sound right.

I think it should be V4.01.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Help! IMail HD won't boot

A 18wheeler took out a transformer this morning but my
IMail 6.x NT4 sp6a server (on UPS) was shut down
correctly.

After 1.5 hours, power was restored. All the servers
came up except for my IMail server. The First error
was a Adaptec SCSI adaptor "no drive ID 0" No big
deal ID 0 is just IMail Spool drive. Turned off the
server, unpluged ID0 and booted.

Now I got the dreaded "No Operating System" error on
the IMail C drive.

I used a recent NT Emergency disk hich reinstalled the
hal.dll and ntosknl files. After rebooting I get the
OS Loader 4 screen but it stops with the error

OS Loader V2.10
The system did not load because of a computer disk
hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check the
boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows NT documentation about
hardware disk configuration and your hardware
reference manuals for additional information. Boot
failed.
The device or partition component of a path is
incorrect

Please send any suggestions to
