Fellow Ipswitch investors,

In version 6.x of I-mail, when configured to force SSL on the Web interface, without fail the web messaging service would randomly lock up.  Does Imail 7.xx also have this problem?

Now I must rant, please excuse me, but I need to vent..

I have bi$%*#ed up a storm about this SSL bug over the last year, (some of you may even remember, I did it here too) all to no avail.  I was lucky to get a call back at all.  About 2 months ago, IPswitch talked me through a workaround with WhatsUP Gold Trial  (if you call it a work around, it restarts the IWEBMSG service every time it fails.  2-3 times a day).  Anyhow, when I inquired about either a fix, or a free copy of WhatsUP, I was assured a fix for I-mail.  This was from a fellow named Eric.  Supposed to be one of the senior tech bubba's there.  I explained my frustration, and asked for a little help in getting my faith back in IpSwitch.  .Never heard from them again.  This is really nothing new.  Frankly, in my observation, their support from 6.05 on has been pretty miserable, bordering on fraud when you consider that the tech support is what they really peddle.  And I say this as a person that really WANTS to like the company, and support the product.  It is however, a 2 way street.  Whoever is managing Tech support and QA there is simply killing them.

Anyhow, before I write off the two copies of I-mail, significant investment in time and our commitment to the WONDERFUL products from Humankind Systems, and go off in search of a better server, can someone assure me it's a fixed problem?  If not, who has a comparable product?  Wither Win32 or Open Source?

Lee Buskey.

Terrence,

You just proved our point that IPswitch should continue to support their product until the

newer version is stable and we have had time to make adjustments and begin using it.

win2K has been out for nearly 2 years now. After Imail v7.0 has been out for more than

a year, year and a half I would then expect them to start reducing support for the previous

version. By reducing I mean to stop releasing hot fixes and patches.

By the way I called yesterday and got support from MS for NT4 and also SQL 6.0. We

had some problems and they had no problem working with us.

"Thats like ms saying.. i am sorry we have win2k we won't support nt4....."

Thats exactly what MS says... No more NT4 patches and no more support as of last month.

At this time, upgrading is the only option that I have to offer you.  I am going to look into seeing is the 7.03 version of imailsrv will work with 6.06, but that is not a tested configuration so I do not know if it will work in the real world even if it does work here.

The best option to fix the this issue is to upgrade to version 7.  I understand that if the other software causes a conflict then that makes this a difficult decision.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Craig,
This is an issue that I have heard of in version 6.06, but I have not
heard of it at this time in version 7.03.  I recommend that you upgrade tot
he latest version.  If the problem still exist at that point, then I will
have to see if it is a code change that needs to be made, but if it is, then
it will be made in 7 so you will have to upgrade in any case.
Let me know if the upgrade helps the situation.  If you need help with
anything, else, let me know.

I have sent two requests lately and gotten no support.other than a reply
that had a manual page that had little to do with my problem....the other I
solved by holding for 80 minutes for a technician last week for forwarding
and copying mail to another box..... Why and please explain why no follow up
has been given when I paid for a support contract... This should be the
active tracking number ...T20001205000A

I have had a disasterous experience with my List server for IMAIL...

I setup a list and had 1800 email address's... In a matter of 45 minutes I
started
getting nasty responses... people were getting 3 messages in 20 minutes... I
only sent one message

What can cause this situation.. I send a plain text email and my test
account acutally got 5 messages
before I stopped and restarted IMAIL...

Is it something I did?  Is this common?
