This is of course patently untrue. If it wasn't for IBM's assistance with
OS/2, WinNT would never have come out when it did and Windows 2000 wouldn't
have been MS's first good OS. OS/2 was light years (Warp speed even! :-))
ahead of Windows NT for a long time. I know I ran a multiline BBS that had a
Fido feed under OS/2, when it wasn't even possible with a Microsoft OS.
If it wasn't for Microsoft choking out all of the competition, we would have
much better OS's right now.
