It doesn't have to be your primary address...maybe you'd prefer to have a bit-bucket webmail address or something...but come on, what if the list server wants to send something right back to you (as poster, not as subscriber), like "Your message is HTML and has not been accepted"--you could create some unhappy people (i.e., everyone on the list).
