Thanks to Tripp Allen, I have received some interesting news about IMail and it not announcing CRAM-MD5. IMail will not announce it when you are using an external database, which I am. Therefore it will not Auth using it either. Here is my Outlook Express Log:
Outlook Express 5.50.4133.2400 SMTP Log started at 10/18/2001 11:37:45 SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 220 X1 NT-ESMTP Server mail1.cs-usa.net (IMail 6.06 243-1) SMTP: 11:37:45 [tx] EHLO 2xasw SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250-mail1.cs-usa.net says hello SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250-SIZE 0 SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250-8BITMIME SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250-DSN SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250-ETRN SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250-AUTH LOGIN SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250-AUTH=LOGIN SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 250 EXPN SMTP: 11:37:45 [tx] AUTH LOGIN SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 334 VXNlcm5hbWU6 SMTP: 11:37:45 [tx] YmlsbGluZ0B4ZmlyZXdlYi5jb20= SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6 SMTP: 11:37:45 [tx] c2hhZDB3 SMTP: 11:37:45 [rx] 500 failed authentication As you can see it tries to use Auth Login, but fails. This is apparently still a bug in IMail. Any ideas?
