Does that make them experts at decoding MIME segments?

E-mail virus scanning requires 3 distinct pieces: A mail server, a MIME
decoder, and a virus scanner. Ipswitch is great at writing mail servers,
and I'm sure Symantec does a good job at writing virus scanners.

You are very right, that Declude does not make anti-virus
software. There's a good reason for it: Others do a better job than we
could hope to do. However, we are experts at MIME decoding and other
related tasks.

It certainly couldn't have hurt for Ipswitch to have contacted us (other
than to ask for a copy of Declude Virus). At the very least, Ipswitch
could have told us just before telling their resellers and other partners,
and perhaps even more than 2 weeks before the product is due to be released.
