We recently moved our Imail server to a different IP range. We're running
6.06, W2k, X600, 1G RAM & RAID, hardware utilization under 20%. We have 10
IPless domains on registry, 6 IP domains on registry and 2 IP domains on SQL
7.0.

During the move I started following directions in KB article
IM-19991007-DM02. After binding my new IPs to the NIC, they never showed up
in Imail Registry as stated in this KB article. I was able to get an IP in
the registry by going part way through the new host setup, then cancelling.
Once I had a new IP in the registry, I followed the instructions. This
however, screwed up the first domain by adding the users from that domain to
the main host (and now I can't delete them). I changed my method to the
following: Opened the registry entry for the domain and changed the host IP
value to the new IP. Renamed the old IP for that domain to the new one.
Everything seemes to work fine. Have I done anything bad or missed anything
here?

Current unrsolved problem: Our two domains on ODBC are getting intermittent
errors where users don't receive mail. Error in the mail header is 550
5.7.1. Can't relay for user. The only configuration change from old setup
(which has worked for 2 years) is that we now have a separate NIC directly
connecting Imail server to SQL server using an internal range (10.x.x.x) and
we have changed the DSN to use the SQL server's IP as to eliminate any DNS
issue. I surmise that W2k is occassionally trying to connect to the SQL
server using the external NIC, failing, then trying the other one and that
this delay is too long for Imail to validate the users thus causing this
error. HOWEVER, I could be completely wrong. Any help or suggestions are
greatly appreciated.

Thanks

David Setzer
