I had the same problem and discovered that I had
been placed on
a couple of the "Open Relay" blacklists. Of
course, I had long since
closed off relay, but I didn't know I was
blacklisted until my aliases
to external e-mail addresses started erroring
out.
Check your SMTP logs and search for the external
e-mail address,
the isp often gives you an error and a URL to the
blacklist if that is
indeed what you're experiencing.

Hallo !
Anyone know what can couse the following
problem:
All mail alias on the server that points to a
extern adress dosent work anymore!
All alias that points to a internal adress
works !
A have the folowing settings in "SMTP
Security"
Relay mail for adresses
Allow remote mail for local
host
Refuse NULL senders
Check valid sender
Auto.deny possible
hacking attempt
Smtp VRFY and AUTH is enabled. I have trying to
dissable this but it dosent work.
If i test to send with "Relay mail
for anyone" it dosent make any differents.....
