I second Ron's suggestion. I use this configuration for a number of network processes that send status emails but cannot support SMTP AUTH (ie, APC network management, syslog daemon, IPCheck network monitoring, etc) and it works very well. Since the CF email should have a source machine of the internet server, which should be a local machine, I think this will work for you.
