No, I am not talking about my SMTP settings.

I went into the host (the stuff underneath the services) and looked at the 
general tab of the screen that comes up.

Should the TCP/IP address: be empty?

right now I am trying to send email to my hotmail account using outlook 
express that is using my domain account.

I never receive the email.

I do get an error email message sent back to me.

you mean the "Default Host:" ?   put localhost or 127.0.0.1 in there

that's not the cause any pb's you have sending mail remotely

whatever ip the firewall sees when connecting the imail box

did you try to send mail to anybody else?? what happened? (forget the LST
problem for now)
