Look into GeoTrust. They bought out Equifax's certificate business and can deliver a secure cert automatically, without any BS or documentation, in minutes. All you need is control over the Administrative email account for a domain (or just tell the admin to acknowledge the email, so the cert gets issued). WAY easy and only costs $99.
My most recent cert -- where I was also the domain admin email -- took me 20 minutes, from the time I generated the CSR on my server to the time I finished installation of the cert. I was a Verisign cert reseller for three years, but given the simplicity of the GeoTrust process that's over. Verisign has great cert service, but they can't touch this...
