Look into GeoTrust. They bought out Equifax's certificate business and
can deliver a secure cert automatically, without any BS or
documentation, in minutes. All you need is control over the
Administrative email account for a domain (or just tell the admin to
acknowledge the email, so the cert gets issued). WAY easy and only
costs $99.

My most recent cert -- where I was also the domain admin email -- took
me 20 minutes, from the time I generated the CSR on my server to the
time I finished installation of the cert. I was a Verisign cert
reseller for three years, but given the simplicity of the GeoTrust
process that's over. Verisign has great cert service, but they can't
touch this... Yet.

We have always used Thwate and had good luck with them. Very responsive
in the past. BUT last year they were purchased by Verisign so who knows
what tomorrow will bring?

I think there may be a cheaper alternative, but I don't know what.
