We are moving from an outsourced email solution to a internal solution.

We are trying to move some customers from an old domain of the outsorced
email service to a new domain which we will host. This change will require
the customers to delete the old email account and add the new one for the
new domain. We plan to email everone in advance but expect some users to
delay in making the change. We have already setup the new
accounts/passwords on the new server and domain but when we make the
cut-over we want to reduce the number of calls to as few as possible.

We do not want the customers to get an error after the change-over and flood
our phonebank so this is our bright idea:

We would like the application/mailserver to do:

1) POP3 Authenticate for all users regardless of username and password for
domainA.com and report no mail waiting.
2) Send email to them (stating that the mail servers have changed to
domainB.com and what they need to do).

Someone suggest setting up a Qmail server with a script to do the above.
Has anyone else tried this?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Steve
