This is what ipswitch support told me, verbatim: The -l switch does not need to be used if you only wish to delete non-log files.
So, based on that I did not use the -l script.... and it deleted all my log files... very interesting Jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scot Rager" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2002 9:13 AM Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] isplcln.exe question... : I made a copy of my spool folder and ran that same command ... and got the : same results you did. I then issued the following command: isplcln -n 5 -l : 0 and got the desired results. It didn't touch any log files. I ran "isplcln -n 5" from the imail : directory and it not only deleted a bunch of old spool files, it also : deleted the last 19 days of log files. I asked the ipswitch tech people if : doing this exact command would leave the log files and they told me it : would, so i ran it... now the files are gone. granted, i should have tested : first... and i have backups of all but todays, but i think that there is : either a problem with this program or with the tech support. I would just : like to know where the problem is so that i can use this program to delete : old spool files... : : jim : : : : : : ----- Original Message ----- : From: "Len Conrad" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 6:24 PM : Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] isplcln.exe question... : : : > : > >I sent this question to ipswitch's support and they told me that if i did : > >not want to delete log files to just leave the -l switch off... so i ran : it : > >like this isplcln -n 5, expecting that all non-log files older than 5 : days : > >would be deleted... guess what happened?
