Always true. Remember that a null body is still RFC 822. What you need
is  the  ability  to  generate  a fixed-date "From" line (no colon) in
between  your  messages.  The  date  doesn't  have  to match the Date:
creation header or Received: header.

Be  also  aware that (since you obviously have people leaving messages
on the server), MUAs use UIDLs to keep track of which messages they've
seen.  As far as I know, the only way to keep the UIDLs for sure is to
create  your own MBXs, like we're discussing, and let the MAIN.UID get
autocreated.  Imail  will "learn" its UIDLs from the imported messages
and  present the same list to your clients that they saw the last time
they checked.
