I could only hope this is an AOL problem, as today (welcome-to-work-it-is-Monday)I have had a ton of AOL users call with this very problem.
Granted, I have an open relay (acually, I will close this in 19 minutes), and apparently the DNS is screwed up (no PTR)... But after I read your message it gave me hope that AOL has screwed something up. Anybody know? Or, who's at fault? A customer has their mail reader (Outlook Express) set to send their outgoing email through our server (they are not local) and they have marked the checkbox saying to send their POP3 username/password for the connection. They are trying to send a message out and are getting the following error: The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'. Account 'mail.validdomainname.com', Protocol SMTP, server response 550 not local host, aol.com not a gateway, Port 25, Secure (SLL) No, Server error 550, error # 0x800ccc79 Since some of their email is going out, I'm guessing there is some problem with AOL, but I need to be able to give them an explanation as to what is wrong -- not just "it's AOL".
