I don't want to add any more fuel to the spam/blacklist fire, but I'm
hoping for some advice. For some reason, earthlink has my server
blacklisted as an open relay. Yes, we *were* an open relay -- 2 months
ago. One Saturday, some spammer hijacked us and sent out a bunch of
spam. We were placed on several blacklists, I found out about it the
following Monday, made the necessary changes, contacted each blacklist
and asked to be retested, and within a week we were off of all
blacklists that I could find out about (NOTE: thank you
www.dnsstuff.com !!!)

Last week, I learned that we are blacklisted by earthlink for being an
open relay. I don't know when they blacklisted us, but we have been
secured for about 2 months. I've checked out their website, sent emails
as they suggested (to their abuse address, from our server, using our
postmaster address, included imail log excerpt, included test run
showing that we're not an open relay). All I've received is automated
responses, and our server is still blacklisted. It doesn't appear that
we're blacklisted in a range of ip's, as I can telnet to them from my
workstation without getting the connection dropped. I've been trying
for about a week to get off their list, with no success.

Any suggestions on what my next step should be? At this point, I could
really use some rational suggestions (I'm getting ticked off enough that
I'm risking *not* being rational!).

I have absolutely no problem with blacklisting open relays, etc. to cut
down on spam. But to be wrongly blacklisted, and not receive anything
worthwhile back from them, is more than a little upsetting.

Thanks for all the help I've received from this list up to now, and for
any suggestions on how to alleviate this problem!

Tony
