SMTP problem

Hi, please help if you can on this one:

We are running IMail 7.04 on NT4 Service pack 6 machine with an external MS
SQL 7 database
A couple of days ago, we started experiencing problems with SMTP.
All of a sudden and without apparent reason, SMTP stops responding
completely.
There's nothing on the log file to point to a problem or any unusual
entries.
The NT4 services panel and the IMail services panel show SMTP as running,
however there is no response from SMTP at all. Stopping and restarting the
SMTP services doesn't help. The only way to restore the service is to reboot
the server. We've done that at least 4 times today

The hardware is a dual PIII 800s with 3 9GB HD's on raid 5 and 768M RAM
