Any AS400 experts out there? Anyone know of an AS400 adminsitrators list?

Here's my situation:
We are an ISP.
We have a client with a frame relay circuit that connects them to us through
which we provide them Internet access.
They have an AS400.
Their remote employees dial up to their respective ISP's and log onto the
AS400 via terminal emulation programs that utilize telnet on port 23.
After being idle for 5 minutes, these sessions are dropped. That is not
acceptable to them. 5 minutes is too short a period--its just picking up a
short phone call.
Okay. I would agree...
This problem started just after they switched their access service to us.
We installed a loaner router replacing the router they had used with their
previous provider.
The loaner router is a ACC Danube.
I can find no idle time out setting on that router.
The client's AS400 geeks (proudly self-proclaimed) are certain that every
time out variable is either turned off or set to 90 minutes.
They suspect the router of dropping telnet connections.
Maybe...But I can connect to the router and stay connected and idle forever.

Company owner will be connecting remotely starting next Monday. He has
everyone involved (his employees and three consultant companies) terrified
of a major eruption that will swim all the way upstream if he experiences
disconnections.

I'm plum out of ideas.

Any ideas short of running away?
