If you want to archive them (if you have the time to do that, you are wasting your time on this), archive them somewhere else, like a different partition, and esp different directory from imail/spool, which needs to be kept as least populated as possible so mailqueue file searching is not slowed by having 100's or 1000's of old files in the spool dir.
