You snipped a bit too much of my message and maybe I was not clear enough. 
The message is in ISO 8851-1 and an ordinary e-mail message sent by Imail's 
web mail uses "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1" for the same 
message. BTW, I see no reason to use "us-ascii" at all, when "ISO-8859-1" 
would serve as well.
