I agree about the size/cost issue. The 30% is the total message bytes that are stopped by Postini for us. It is actually around 40% of messages, and 25% bytes.

If you are an ISP with thousands of subscribers, $3.00 a year per customer represents a considerable amount :) Since you mentioned considering implementing IMGate, you may well find that the latter will indeed cut down bandwidth even "ahead" of the bastion box as it will reject those large messages based on IP address and header contents (i.e. *before* letting through the potentially/usually large DATA portion associated with "undesirable" inbound messages.) At that point -- running both IMGate *and* subscribing to Postini, -- you may want to re-evaluate the merits of Postini based on cost effectiveness. By the way, I still can't fathom where the claimed "30%" figure comes from. 30% of what, exactly? Number of messages? Number of bytes? Not trying to be confrontational, believe me. I'm sincerely trying to get a grasp as to why Postini is such a bargain. Sincerely, Guy -- Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
