I'm not Len (by a long shot) but, no, there is nothing wrong at all with
naming your primary host differently from the NetBIOS machine name. As long
as DNS knows about your host, you'll be fine. Also, you may/will eventually
add virtual (IP-less) hosts to your mail server and they will be bound to be
different from the primary host name. Again, no problem.

The general consensus on this list is that the user guide has it backwards
(though it is not "wrong"). Common practice is rather to name the server
"domain.com" and not "mail.domain.com". So, set the OHN to "domain.com" and
add a Host Alias of "mail.domain.com" if you *really* want your users to
have e-mail addresses of the form [EMAIL PROTECTED], which is not a
common form these days. (An analogy is that many Web sites do not have "www"
prepended to their URLs as was the norm a few years ago.)
