You cannot effectively virus scan e-mail messages and attachments without a third-party application that can strip the encapsulation (mime, base64, etc.) from the message before scanning. Take a look at www.declude.com. Many of us on this list use Declude for both virus scanning and spam filtering of e-mail with IMail and are extremely happy with it. It integrates very nicely with IMail and supports most of the commercial virus scanning software that is out there.

I don't quite understand that. Maybe I am just too much of a newbee to figure that out. I am new at this and I am running Norton AntiVirus. I want to make sure that Norton is scanning for viruses before the emails go to the users. Is there anything special that I need to do to make this work? I have realtime protection turned on. Also, I was wondering how to strip email attatchments. If someone could point me to the documentation or a good reference, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Keith _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
