Very true Scott,

I've also had issues with our dell servers that have the Intel NIC's
installed. After sp3 update and the driver updates for the Intel Card
Specific from DELL we've had absolutely no problems with packets fragments,
drops, etc. Actually our connectivity, from our IP has dropped from 120 ms
to around 55-60 ms.. not to bad at all.

FWIW, there are a number of NICs that have problems with IMail. *But*, I
haven't heard of a single case where it was an IMail issue; in every case
I've seen, it's been a problem with the NIC (or its drivers).

At least one NIC card will occasionally switch bits, for example, which
will cause problems that can be extremely hard to diagnose (for example, it
could account for mail always going to the A record rather than the MX
record, causing mail to get lost or bounce). The most famous is the
Linksys that will BSOD when POP3 mail is checked. That's strictly a
NIC/driver issue.

I haven't heard of any problems with Intel NICs, though. You may not even
have a NIC issue.
