What we've done is brought in-house our previously out-sourced email (to mailcentro.com) and saved a whopping US $3k+/month in the process....but I have to hand it to mailcentro, they really had the spam under control.For a lot less than what you paid for a single month there, you can get IMGate, Declude JunkMail, and Message Sniffer -- combine all three of them, and you'll probably be very happy.
