I don't know how McAfee's NetShield does this. I do know that it started several months ago and we had been running NetShield well before this started. Any suggestions on how I could eliminate this from consideration?
It could well have been an update to NetShield that caused it, as most virus scanners wouldn't catch any viruses in .SMD/.MBX files a year or two ago, but now many virus scanners will catch some viruses in them.

You should be able to set up logging in NetShield, so that it will record where it finds viruses and what it deletes.
