There is a terrific amount of misleading or off-topic info flying around on this thread, except for the posts from the Davids. This is especially surprising given that historical responses have centered on "RTFM," which is comparatively harmless advice.
There's no reason to get hung up on competitive products, as if Ipswitch's cookbook for store and forward is somehow broken. Yes, the relay options in IMail could be more robust, but this has little to do with Bob's problem setting up S&F in a plain-vanilla envt. Likewise, there seems to be some newfound misunderstanding of "Relay for Addresses," which is a crucial part of the S&F cookbook and not to be thrown out. Please refresh some of your memories regarding the bidirectional nature of IMail relaying, as described throughout the archives. Bob's objectives, then, remain the same. Why don't we wait for him to post an expanded description of his setup (snippets of HOSTS file, etc.). Something he's doing likely doesn't completely conform to the instructions. Bob, is the IP associated with the domain name in the HOSTS file exactly the same as the one you've added into "Relay for"? Note that IPs you add there imply a bidirectional trusted relay; it's not just "SMTP clients" that are covered. -Sandy P.S.
