Here is what happened: Client in Toronto has an Exchange server. We are their public MX record and Exchange is set to use our server as the smart host. Fine and dandy.
Yesterday, their ISP changed equip and loaded default rules (i.e. home user) which block all outgoing SMTP except through the ISP server. No one told us. So, all of their outbound mail went no where, as the Default SMTP server could not connect to ours. After being on the phone for about 2 hours, I think it is working again. But the $64,000 question, where are all the e-mails that could not be delivered earlier? John Tolmachoff MCSE, CSSA IT Manager, Network Engineer RelianceSoft, Inc.
