Yes the programmer says he use PLAIN as authentication and now he recieve a "500 authentiation failed" In the logfile I can see 03:05 04:09 SMTPD(06CD00B0) [213.21.136.90] EHLO COMPUTERNAME 03:05 04:09 SMTPD(00000510) FAILED authentication [EMAIL PROTECTED] We've veryfied multiple times that the used login and pw is correct. It seems very strange to me, because this application has run fine for over a year. I can determine exactly the point after them the problem appeared (03/03/2003 01:30 PM GMT+1) and I am very sure that I haven't changed something on the configuration. No update applied, no other SW installed, no OS setting, firewall rule or any other setting was changed. The programmer here says he's absolutely sure that when he coded his program the option PLAIN worked fine. The updgrade from v6 to v7.1x cannot be the cause because there is a period from over 2 months where the program worked fine even with ver 7.1x Probably there is some tool that can help to test and verify the different authentication methods? It seems also strange to me that Ipswitch refers to RFC2222 (http://asg.web.cmu.edu/rfc/rfc2222.html) I can't find something about PLAIN, LOGIN or MD5-CRAM in this document. RFC2222 titles with "Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL)" and in the entire document there is neither the string "SMTP" > Is the application running from dynamic IPs, thus preventing > you from adding the IPs to "Relay for Addresses"? Yes, it's running from dynamic ip's from a increasing number of clients.
