My mail server is not able to reach the blacklists provided by default with
Version 8. I have set them up and enabled them according to the users
guide. However, my email server is behind a firewall and I'm wondering if
anyone else had to open a port (ping perhaps?) to allow the services to
work.

Spam database lookups just use standard DNS packets, so if you can send out E-mail, you don't have to punch any holes in the firewall.

FYI: sentineltrans.com is active email hosted by psi.net. We are setting
up sentineltrans.net in house on Imail. I am forwarding my
sentineltrans.com mail to sentineltrans.net to test the Imail server before
going live.

Note that with IMail v8's anti-spam, the IP-based spam tests won't work in this case (since they will see the IP of the psi.net mailserver).

However, the tests should at least run -- is you local DNS server blocking certain types of DNS lookups (very few do)?
