All you've done by relaying for anyone is reduced the resource toll taken by AUTH attempts (that is, if a spammer's client software is hot-switching between non-AUTH and AUTH in that order, which is the opposite of what normal mail client software will do) and replaced it with immediate consumption of disk resources. What kind of database are you using? In the above scenario, if a flood of AUTH sessions were hanging, the elimination of the AUTH routine *could* reduce everything to a manageable level. But only for now, since you've applied a rather reckless "cure." -Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
