All  you've  done  by relaying for anyone is reduced the resource toll
taken  by  AUTH  attempts  (that is, if a spammer's client software is
hot-switching  between  non-AUTH  and AUTH in that order, which is the
opposite  of what normal mail client software will do) and replaced it
with immediate consumption of disk resources.

What kind of database are you using? In the above scenario, if a flood
of  AUTH  sessions  were  hanging, the elimination of the AUTH routine
*could*  reduce  everything  to  a manageable level. But only for now,
since you've applied a rather reckless "cure."
