If you're that intent on backing up registry, I've found that you can take this a step further by tracking registry deltas. Or another approach is to use another product like Advanced Registry Tracer (ART). It allows you to compare registry backups from different dates, letting you know what's changed. We've found this helps us track changes to areas of the registry where many people make frequent changes. This allows us to go back to a specific date and restore keys that pertain to a specific product or registry setting.
We've got a routine that pulls in the registry on a nightly basis into the ART DB, as well as a full system backup that can be used by ERD. -ives ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Tolmachoff (Lists)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2003 1:05 PM Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Somewhat OT: Registry Security > You may back it up 4 times per day, but to what, the same file?
