Hello Group,

I had a little problem this weekend, Running Version 8 HF1

An email box account1 had forwarding to account2 that had store and
forwarding to an external account wich was full and bouncing the
messages back to account1 and starting the whole loop over again.

What started the problem was account2 box filled up and started to
send "mail box full messages" back to account1 and it then forward it
to account 2 and it forward it to external account that quickly
filled up and it sent mail back to account1 etc etc etc....

So anyway we were generating a ton of messages internally about
500,000. I understand the looping problem and have fixed it.

Here is what also happened, the mail server was asking for a DNS lock-
up for 127.0.0.1 it did this thousand of times and caused our
upstream provider Sprint to lock us out of their DNS server, and
then the whole thing stopped delivering mail, because I had the
Sprint DNS server address in the SMTP service DNS box.

So here is my question,

Can I put more than one DNS server in the DNS box on the SMTP
service?

It seems that the SMTP service only uses this DNS to send mail even
though there are more configured on the server in the TCP/IP settings
that still were working.

And is this correct that a DNS lock-up needs to be done on local
mail?

Thanks

Rhett Spencer
