The only action we take on BADHEADERS is to add a warning and we add no
weight to email that fails this test because of the reasons stated.

Ouch.

That's one of the best spam tests there is -- we see about a 50% spam detection rate, with less than .5% false positives. The FP rate is better than most anti-spam programs overall. This test is vital as part of a weighting system, *unless* you have tests that perform better. There are very, very few spam tests that perform better than this (there are some that catch more spam, but most have a high FP rate).

If we held on or deleted on this test we would nor receive our notifications
about our backup or other alert notifications. the same goes for the
SPAMHEADERS test. We see too many false positives from these tests so if you
are going to use the in DECLUDE use a low weight or no weight.

For the SPAMHEADERS test, a low (but not zero) weight is a good idea. Because of lazy programmers, lots of E-mail sent from web sites fails this test.

But any time an E-mail fails the BADHEADERS test, you have a right to complain (loudly!) to the software vendor that sent the E-mail. They are sending broken E-mail, and the problem *must* be fixed. If the E-mail is important to you, the company sending it probably is important to you in some way as well, so you really have an obligation to let them know of their broken software.

The more broken Internet software there is, the harder Internet communication becomes.
