In IMail 8.0 and greater immsgexp.exe will accomplish what you desire

C:\IMail>immsgexp

Ipswitch(r) IMail mailbox expiration Utility - Version 8.01
Copyright(c)Ipswitch, Inc. 1998-2001. All rights reserved.
Usage: immsgexp -tstartdir -dnumdays [-mMailbox]
       -t Path (full or relative to IMail TopDir) to top directory to start looking 
for mailbo
       -d number of days old a msg can be and not be removed
           anything older will be removed
       -m mailbox (mailbox.mbx) to check. If this is omitted all
            mailboxes in Path will be checked
